Course Description:

This online course is designed to introduce the basic principles and techniques of long jumping. Through a combination of instructional videos and drills, students will gain a basic understanding of the 4-phases of Long Jump: approach run-up, takeoff, flight phase, and landing. In addition, students will learn how to choose their takeoff leg, learn the rules of long jump, learn how to find their approach measurements, basic drills to start with and Tips, Tricks and Analysis for long jumping.

Learning Outcomes:

By the end of this course, students will be able to:

  1. Have a basic understanding of Long Jump
  2. Understand the basic components of the long jump, including the approach run, takeoff, flight phase, and landing
  3. How to choose your jumping leg
  4. Know the basic rules of long jump and the competition area
  5. Know how to find their starting mark and style, how many steps to take on the run up and how to find those measurements
  6. Be introduced to long jump drills for beginners just starting out

 

Course Format:

This course is self-paced and fully online. Students will have access to instructional videos, to help simplify the process of understanding the long jump.  There will also be opportunities for interaction with Coach John and other students through in the Jumpers Junction Discord Chat.
